Small and medium-sized enterprises in the UK are expected to increase their IT budgets by 10.7% in 2007 – twice the rate in France and Germany, according to new AMR Research.

UK SMEs are bucking the European trend and falling in line with emergent trends further a field – IT spending by SMEs in China and India is expected to hit record levels this year.
However, IT budgets are predicted to rise by 6.4% overall in the coming year across the UK, France and Germany, up slightly from 2006's growth figure of 5.%.

The AMR research also suggests that SMEs are now more accomplished at pinpointing exactly how to prioritise their spending. Ebusiness projects and business process outsourcing are seen as top priorities among the high-spending SMEs.

Global SME IT spend will reach its highest level in the past decade, growing by 8.3% in 2007, while overall IT sales are set to rise by 6%.
