SME Social NetworkingThe UK’s fastest growing business social network Ecademy is celebrating a record turnout at its latest networking event, with over 600 entrepreneurs and small business owners attending a packed venue in central London last week. Held at the Tower Hotel, near Tower Bridge in London on Thursday 19th June, guests filled the exclusive event to hear entrepreneur and founder of Lastminute.com Brent Hoberman speak about his experiences of building a billion dollar online business.

Both Ecademy and Lastminute.com were founded ten years ago and Hoberman commended the UK’s first business social network by saying “Ecademy is testament to the fact that we have moved into a world where a very differentiated product with a strong brand can be successfully marketed in a completely different way than previously possible”.

Founder of Ecademy Penny Power, also shared her insight into the future of social networking by saying; “Our children are growing up in a world which is much less about competition and more about working together and helping each other to succeed. They are growing up in world where their aim is not be the best in class, but to be part of a winning team, and this ‘success through sharing’ is exactly what members are achieving through being part of the Ecademy network”.

“The success of Ecademy is testament to the increasing acceptance of the value that social networking plays in growing and developing businesses in the 21st Century” said Power, who founded Ecademy in 1998 at the age of 33, initially to manage the increasingly expanding network of contacts for her husband Thomas.
